I try to keep this blog a “political and stance free zone”. However, this particular case has made me nuts!! A Cobb county mother of three is facing more time in jail than the hit-and-run, alcohol impaired man that killed her 4-year-old son. I am angry! After living in Brooklyn, NY, I have seen and experienced a city that is aware of the needs of pedestrians and cyclists. This woman was left at a bus stop and the CLOSEST crosswalk was .3 miles away. That is a very long way to walk when you are trying to commute with 3 young children. AND everyone else who got off the bus crossed at the same place. This young mother was trying to get home before dark. AND the man who hit her family and left them for dead ADMITTED to drinking earlier in the day. And guess what….. this wasn’t his first offense. He served 6 MONTHS in jail. This young woman is facing 3 YEARS in jail and three years away from her two living children. PLEASE….. make some noise about this, folks!! Let Cobb County, Georgia know that this is NOT justice. And let Cobb County know that bus stops and crosswalk safety need to be of upmost importance. If we want a “greener” planet, let’s send the message that we are going to take it seriously.

I am whatever you make me, nothing more. I am your belief in yourself, your dream of what a people may become…. I am the clutch of an idea, and the reasoned purpose of resolution.
I am no more than you believe me to be and I am all that you believe I can be. I am whatever you make me, nothing more.

Princesses, Mean (and incredibly talented and hilarious) Stepsisters, A Fairy Godmother…… loads of talent and gorgeous choreography and dancing: You can be a part of all of this and more this weekend! Roswell Dance Theatre will be presenting Cinderella this coming weekend. I had so much fun photographing rehearsals for this fabulous production this past weekend. I continue to be amazed at the talent and energy that fills the studios of the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance. These dancers were working and concentrating so hard, yet the studio was filled with smiles and a powerful, positive, happy energy. As Tracey Bayly, Director of the Pre-Professional Company, called “Curtain” at the conclusion of the rehearsal, I felt goosebumps from the tips of my toes to the top of my head! I would encourage everyone in the Roswell area to take advantage of the opportunity to see this beautiful production!

I’ve recently (well technically yesterday) launched a new creative collaboration with my friend and now business partner, Lauren Chernau. Between Designs was born out of a desire to give our daughters funky and age appropriate hair accessories. Bows were too “little girl” for them and tortoise shell is, well, simply boring and drab. We decided to make them a few reversible, fabric headbands. Immediately we had people asking where they could find our headbands! And even though we were thinking in terms of “tweens”, we found that younger girls, teens and adults wanted one, too. And so… Between Designs was born!
We also decided to offer other options. We are currently designing and creating hair clips. And staying true to our original vision, we are aiming for vintage and funky.
Please take a moment to visit our brand new site and Etsy shop. It is a little sparse now but we will be growing and changing! Thanks!

Okay….. who am I trying to kid? How about photo of the week? I really want to challenge myself to post on my blog more often. I am generally fairly argumentative with myself – “we” spend a good deal of the time disagreeing about one thing or another. Sooooo… I am aiming for once a week for the time being!
I adore this picture! This precious child is full of personality…. this image was taken as our session was nearing its end. And she was STILL working the camera with her happy, full of life attitude. Such a sweetie – And her spirit is brighter than her Converse High-Tops!
