Lollipop

March 19, 2010

This is one of those images that I can never get enough of – I find myself magnetically pulled back to it again and again.  Sometimes it is just for the sheer beauty of the scene and its subjects.  Other times I find myself amused and laughing a bit out loud at the humor and contrast of the precious duo.  Sometimes I find myself focusing on the lollipops and I ponder the magic that these delightful bits of sugar on a stick possess.  And other times I find myself with a furrowed brow, trying to throw myself into that moment.  And I try to recall that simple, pure happiness of childhood – the kind that isn’t tainted by mistakes, and what-ifs, and responsibility and bad decisions.  If only for a moment as an adult, I could transport myself into that photo and hold that lollipop and just feel that “rock on” sense of joy.  Perhaps a lollipop is the answer?

Happy Trails and a joyous weekend to all… I am off to the store to buy a jumbo sized bag of joy (aka DumDums, Tootsie Pops, Blow Pops)!  Why don’t we all enjoy one this weekend??

Beauty and the Book

March 12, 2010

The best of a book is not the thought which it contains,
but the thought which it suggests;
just as the charm of music dwells not in the tones
but in the echoes of our hearts.
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes ~

In My Daughter’s Eyes

March 10, 2010

In my daughter’s eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise, and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I want to be
In my daughter’s eyes

- James Slater/Martina McBride
