Free Your Imagination

November 18, 2009

Skipping, hopping, jumping….

Do any of us really take the time to remember what we were truly “thinking” when we did these things?  As an adult, we forget… it is mindless, being wild or “out of control”, or silly.

I am sad when I realize that age and experience and time have taken away the ability to think and feel freely.  We must remember to think like children.  The passion, the imagination, the ability to transport ourselves into another time and place -  what gifts are we given that time and years sadly steal from us?  Look at this picture – close your eyes – and remember.

Such joy in this world that we have allowed to disappear.  I hope you find it again!

A baby gives us hope…. that the world is still a happy place… that there is still good to be found in the most unexpected places.

The Road Not Taken

November 10, 2009

Trail

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
 And sorry I could not travel both
 And be one traveler, long I stood
 And looked down one as far as I could
 To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
 And having perhaps the better claim,
 Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
 Though as for that, the passing there
 Had worn them really about the same,

 And both that morning equally lay
 In leaves no step had trodden black
 Oh, I kept the first for another day!
 Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
 I doubted if I should ever come back.

 I shall be telling this with a sigh
 Somewhere ages and ages hence:
 two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
 I took the one less traveled by,
 And that has made all the difference.

Cynthia King Dance Studio in Windsor Terrace holds a special place in my heart.  It is a place filled with grace, dignity, and the magic of dance.  My daughter glows when she dances through our home recounting her latest dance class.  Cynthia King and her top notch instructors and support staff teach more than the art of dance…. they give children the gift of self-confidence.
